For a commissioned artwork, I need at least one high-quality 8" x 10" photograph to work from, but I prefer several different photos of the subject so that I can piece them together to get the perfect pose and expression. These reference materials may be supplied by you, or I may be available to take the pictures myself depending on your location. Of course, you may also send me a digital image to work from if it is of high resolution.
There are many factors to consider when pricing out a commissioned piece of art.
Medium used (charcoal, pastel, or oil)
Size of the artwork
Complexity of the picture (number of subjects and complexity of the background
This is why I like to get in touch with you and learn what your expectations are before I can quote you a price. Also, a 50% partial payment is due before I begin your painting, and the other half is due after the final artwork has been accepted.
